Interview with our beautiful bride:

HOW DID YOU MEET?

We met in London, rather fortuitously, as even though we lived in the same street for a couple of years and commuted on the same train, we’d never bumped into one another. I moved in as his flatmate initially, and the rest was destiny.

HOW DID YOUR HUSBAND POP THE QUESTION?

It was on a private boat on the lake at Walt Disney World after the fireworks, which burst in the night sky like artist’s brush strokes across a starry black canvas, perfectly timed to music. It was truly magical!

WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING INSPIRATION?

Getting married in the sunshine! Blush pink and romance. The informality of an intimate ceremony. And the quintessence of it all; holding hands and saying our vows to each other.

DESCRIBE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE WEDDING DETAILS

That our vows, which we’d handwritten in secret, only to be shared aloud for the first time during the ceremony, mirrored each other’s words and phrases.

We loved our twine baby’s breath bouquet and boutonnière.

The harpist played meaningful songs for us.

WHAT WAS THE BEST PART OF YOUR WEDDING DAY?

Our vows. It was the heart and soul of the wedding and it was so incredibly touching.

We were also delighted that the sun came out just before the ceremony and we didn’t have to use the three, hastily bought umbrellas!

HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHERS?

There was so much to co-ordinate that it was a huge relief to find that the photographers’ sorted themselves out on the day! They had a great energy; one took the role of organizer and motivator while the other snapped away! I would encourage brides to think about hiring a photography duo.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST AS A MARRIED COUPLE?

As Mr and Mrs, celebrating Christmas at our home with both our families together!

ANY ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES?

I would urge anyone to handwrite their own vows, placing their heartfelt feelings onto paper. You will treasure it forever.

If standard wedding traditions aren’t meaningful or important to you both, don’t follow them. You’ll enjoy and remember the parts that are most personal to you. And for us, that meant: custom vows, a pink wedding dress and fireworks!

Here is the interview with our beautiful bride:

HOW DID YOU MEET?
We were introduced by Marcus (Andre’s cousin) in our senior year of high school in physics class. We started talking as friends and Andre would help me do my homework. He asked me to prom and soon after that we started dating and the rest is history!

HOW DID YOUR HUSBAND POP THE QUESTION?
Andre had surprised me on a mini getaway vacation to Hutchinson Island, FL where we stayed the weekend of September 14, 2012. The night before our last day of our vacation he had asked me whether I wanted to wake up early the following morning and watch the sunrise from our ocean view balcony of our hotel room. I agreed to it and woke up early that morning. While hanging out on the balcony, all of the sudden I see Andre going down on one knee asking me the question “Will you marry me”? And of course I said yes after hugging him and happy tears. The sunrise out on our ocean view balcony was the best back drop for the perfect proposal!

WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING INSPIRATION?
Well my wedding inspiration was everything I pinned on my Pinterest wedding board! LoL. Well not necessarily but I did try to DIY most of my decorations/ideas.

DESCRIBE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE WEDDING DETAILS
Some of my favorite details were the kimono robes my bridesmaids and I wore when we were getting ready. My unity candle was a glass vase engraved with our name and wedding date filled with water and floating candle on top. Also for the reception I had made the “MR” & “MRS” signs which I think turned out great! And finally my wedding dress, I loved the detail and style of it. ☺

WHAT WAS THE BEST PART OF YOUR WEDDING DAY?
I loved the whole day! But if I had to just pick one part of it, it would be the moment I walked into the church and started walking down the aisle towards my groom and to see his face when he saw mine. Also knowing that walking out of church we would be married finally!

HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHERS?
My experience with Dave and Janelle was awesome! They worked with my needs and made the whole process very easy. I really appreciate the distance traveled to be there at my wedding! Dave and Janelle were a very nice and polite couple to work with. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for photographers.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST AS A MARRIED COUPLE?
What I am looking forward to most as a married couple is just relaxing and spending quality time with each other and expanding our family in the future.

ANY ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES?
Enjoy your day because it’s very true what they say “it goes really fast” so absorb it as much as possible. Keep timelines so you can stay on track and organized on what you need to do otherwise you’ll be stressed at the last minute. And finally ASK FOR HELP!! Don’t try to do it all yourself, there’s a lot of people willing to help you.

Our interview with our beautiful bride…..

HOW DID YOU MEET?

Mike had lived in Ft. Lauderdale for about a week. He joined a kickball league as a way of meeting new friends in Ft. Lauderdale. Kelli and a friend of hers decided to join a kickball league that summer as well. Kelli researched the kickball teams in the Ocean Leagues and decided that clearly the team with the most Florida State grads would, indeed, have the most fun. Kelli arrived with her friend first and saw Mike walk up. We introduced ourselves and went on to play and win the game. Later that evening, the kickball festivities continued at the bar. There, we fiercely competed side by side to gain our flip cup victory. It was then, Kelli shared her secret tip on how to improve his flipping accuracy. Kelli invited Mike to a group ‘cheers’ and offered him a beverage. We then sat down on the bar stools and talked for what seemed to be hours. It was one of those long talks where you don’t know that anyone is around you. In that noisy, crazy, bar we felt that we were the only ones in the room. We only heard each other’s voices, and only saw each other’s faces. We left the bar, dined at a nearby pizzeria, and then went home. The following morning, we both were at our respective houses watching the same movie marathon (Indiana Jones) when Mike messaged Kelli and started movie quoting. And the rest is history.

HOW DID YOUR HUSBAND POP THE QUESTION?

Kelli was out of town for the weekend. Mike had decided to propose that Sunday when she returned. He proceeded to blow up hundreds of balloons filling the entire house from floor to ceiling with yellow balloons, like tightly compacted molecules. He drew a red heart on a single balloon and had a ribbon tied to the end. At the other end of the ribbon was the ring box. When Kelli drove up and opened the door, she couldn’t see a thing nor could she move in the sea of yellow balloons all around her. In the midst of all of the yellow balloons, she found her way to the balloon with the red writing. Mike then appeared, got down on one knee, and proposed!

WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING INSPIRATION?

Vintage Glam , Family, and Family Memories

DESCRIBE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE WEDDING DETAILS

I loved that my mother walked me down the isle with my father’s helmet. It felt like both of them were there, walking me down the isle. I loved that my uncle married us. The vows that each of us wrote for the ceremony were personal and unique. We weren’t repeating words from a book; we were making promises to each other straight from the heart. The bistro lighting was gorgeous. It created a soft glow in the reception. Each table had antique décor, and candlelight. The vintage typewriter worked out beautifully and instead of a sign in book, guests were able to type a well wish for us. The bridesmaid bouquets were wrapped with satin made from my grandmother’s wedding dress. The photo prop wall, adorned with both of our families’ wedding photos, was a big hit and made for great fun and memories.

WHAT WAS THE BEST PART OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? The Ceremony.

HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHERS?
Dave and Janelle were recommended to us by a close friend. We were very pleased with their professionalism and ease to work with. They were very unobtrusive and we hardly even noticed they were there, although they were working hard to capture our cherished moments . Both were very personable and polite, and made sure all our wishes were met.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST AS A MARRIED COUPLE?
We are looking forward to keeping our relationship as playful and loving as it is now. We cannot wait to visit new places and meet new people. We love knowing that we have each other and everyday is a new blessing. We look forward to building a beautiful home and children.

ANY ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES?
Take it all in and enjoy your day, it’s the quickest five hours of your life.
